Collecting, storing, cataloging, and preserving the CFHI historical archive
is a central function of the organization. This process began when
CFHI was created and continues to the present.
Today, CFHI has one of the nation's most extensive collections of historical
materials pertaining to the history of the metal casting industry in California.

The CFHI archives are currently housed in a temperature-controlled
storage unit, and include photographs, metal castings, patterns,
documents, artifacts and ephemera related to the history of foundries in California.
Today, you can view much of the CFHI archives via our web site.

CFHI's collection is growing and we continually add new records to our archives.
If you would like to donate an archive to CFHI, please contact our office.
The foundry industry is one of California's oldest industries. It deserves
to be recognized and recorded for future generations.
