Patterns are used in the foundry process to create a cavity in the sand mold.
The cavity created by a pattern is filled with molten metal later in the process.
The molten metal takes the shape of the cavity to produce a desired product.
Patterns are often made of wood, metal, plaster or other materials.Cores are separable from the mold. They are usually made of sand and generally baked
to create additional openings and various shaped cavities in the castings.
Binders are used to hold the grains of sand together
